Connie Task Alerts — Activate / Deactivate

Connie Task Alerts give your agents a friendly desktop pop-up when a new task is routed to them — so they don't have to keep one eye on Connie all day while they're working in their EMR, email, or anywhere else. When a task arrives they get a "Connie — New Task" notification in the corner of their screen, even when Connie is in the background.

This page is for administrators and supervisors: how to turn the feature on or off for your whole organization from the Admin panel.

Two switches, both required

Task Alerts only reach an agent's screen when both of these are on:

  1. You (admin) activate the feature for the organization — this page.
  2. Each agent allows notifications on their own computer — see the agent guide.

Activating here does not force pop-ups onto anyone. It simply enables the capability; each agent still controls notifications on their own machine.

Activate Connie Task Alerts

  1. In Connie, open the Admin panel — the Admin item in the left-hand navigation (the /admin section).

  2. You'll see a list of feature cards, each with an on/off toggle.

  3. Find the card named "Browser notification."

    Naming

In the Admin panel this feature is labeled "Browser notification" — that's the internal name for Connie Task Alerts. They're the same thing. (We're standardizing on "Connie Task Alerts" in the docs and product.)

  4. Switch the "Browser notification" toggle ON.

  5. The change applies organization-wide and takes effect for agents the next time they reload Connie.

That's it — the feature is now active for your organization.

Deactivate Connie Task Alerts

  1. Open the Admin panel → find "Browser notification."
  2. Switch the toggle OFF.
  3. Agents stop receiving desktop pop-ups after they reload Connie. Nothing else about their workflow changes — incoming tasks still appear inside Connie exactly as before.

After you activate — what to tell your team

Activating the feature is only half the job. Each agent must allow notifications on their own computer (a one-time setup, ~2 minutes). Point your team to:

A few things worth telling agents up front:

  • It's Chrome only, and they must be signed in on a standalone Connie page (e.g. your-org.connie.team), not Connie embedded in another site.
  • The #1 reason alerts "don't work" is a Focus / Do Not Disturb mode silently hiding them — not a Connie problem. The agent guide and the troubleshooting page cover this.
  • Agents can turn notifications on or off on their own machine at any time — it's their screen.

Rollout tip

Task Alerts are a heads-up, not a leash. They're most useful for teams who multitask and aren't watching Connie continuously — which is most nonprofit teams. Consider a short note to staff explaining what the pop-up is and that they're in control of it on their own computer.

Troubleshooting

If the feature is on for the org but an agent still isn't seeing pop-ups, it's almost always a setting on their computer (Focus mode, alert style, or Chrome permission). Walk through:
